Workshops
I’m a recovering academic, which means I know how to be an educator and without the constraints of academia, I can now just have fun with it! My workshops are all introvert and neurodivergent-friendly and include all materials needed to make your own zines. I have ten years of experience developing engaging programming and creating informal learning spaces, from night sky astronomy tours on a sandy beach to a virtual, asynchronous queer theory cohort. I love to work with groups of creative humans looking to connect with each other and with art! I’m also happy to tailor my content to your group’s interests and curiosities.
A note for teachers: due to the increasingly hostile nature of today’s political climate towards trans people (& children), I am not currently offering workshops for anyone under the age of 18. However, Queer youth deserve both representation and support from the adults in their lives, so I am happy to work with educators to develop age-appropriate materials on Queer history, self-exploration, and/or self-publishing to share with their students.
Workshops are offered on a sliding scale.
Take Back Your Power! Do It Yourself!
ZINE 101
In an engaging and creative space, participants create their own zines using provided materials (including collage, drawing, painting, and more).
I can curate some prompts on a topic area or you can let your imagination run wild! You’ll learn the basic and common folds you’ll encounter as a beginner zine-maker, and be given a playful place to express yourself through community, art, and zines.
Can also include a more thorough presentation on zines as a form of activism, the history of the Queer community and zines, and any other relevant topic you’re interested in!
